761 In Judah, God is known.
His name is great in Israel. 2 His tabernacle is also in Salem;
His dwelling place in Zion. 3 There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow,
the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah. 4 Glorious are you, and excellent,
more than mountains of game. 5 Valiant men lie plundered,
they have slept their last sleep.
None of the men of war can lift their hands. 6 At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
Matthew Henry's Commentary on Psalm 76:1-6
Commentary on Psalm 76:1-6
(Read Psalm 76:1-6)
Happy people are those who have their land filled with the knowledge of God! happy persons that have their hearts filled with that knowledge! It is the glory and happiness of a people to have God among them by his ordinances. Wherein the enemies of the church deal proudly, it will appear that God is above them. See the power of God's rebukes. With pleasure may Christians apply this to the advantages bestowed by the Redeemer.
