7 he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
7 Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
7 he will perish forever like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
7 But still end up in a pile of dung. Acquaintances look at them with disgust and say, 'What's that?'
7 Yet he will perish forever like his own refuse; Those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'
7 yet they will vanish forever, thrown away like their own dung. Those who knew them will ask, 'Where are they?'
Matthew Henry's Commentary on Job 20:7
Commentary on Job 20:1-9
(Read Job 20:1-9)
Zophar's discourse is upon the certain misery of the wicked. The triumph of the wicked and the joy of the hypocrite are fleeting. The pleasures and gains of sin bring disease and pain; they end in remorse, anguish, and ruin. Dissembled piety is double iniquity, and the ruin that attends it will be accordingly.
