Unless Yahweh watches over the city,
the watchman guards it in vain.
1271 Except Jehovah build the house, They labor in vain that build it: Except Jehovah keep the city, The watchman waketh but in vain.
1271 If God doesn't build the house, the builders only build shacks. If God doesn't guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap.
1271 Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.
