3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
3 Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
3 Bear with me, and I will speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.
3 Put up with me while I have my say - then you can mock me later to your heart's content.
3 Bear with me that I may speak, And after I have spoken, keep mocking.
3 Bear with me, and let me speak. After I have spoken, you may resume mocking me.
Matthew Henry's Commentary on Job 21:3
Commentary on Job 21:1-6
(Read Job 21:1-6)
Job comes closer to the question in dispute. This was, Whether outward prosperity is a mark of the true church, and the true members of it, so that ruin of a man's prosperity proves him a hypocrite? This they asserted, but Job denied. If they looked upon him, they might see misery enough to demand compassion, and their bold interpretations of this mysterious providence should be turned into silent wonder.
