12 Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee.
12 "Take him and look after him; don't harm him but do for him whatever he asks."
12 "Take him, look after him well, and do him no harm, but deal with him as he tells you."
12 "Look out for him. Make sure nothing bad happens to him. Give him anything he wants."
12 "Take him and look after him, and do him no harm; but do to him just as he says to you."
12 "See that he isn't hurt," he said. "Look after him well, and give him anything he wants."
Matthew Henry's Commentary on Jeremiah 39:12
Commentary on Jeremiah 39:11-14
(Read Jeremiah 39:11-14)
The servants of God alone are prepared for all events; and they are delivered and comforted, while the wicked suffer. They often meet with more kindness from the profane, than from hypocritical professors of godliness. The Lord will raise them up friends, do them good, and perform all his promises.
