8 They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.
8 He is to share equally in their benefits, even though he has received money from the sale of family possessions.
8 then he may have equal portions to eat, besides what he receives from the sale of his patrimony.
8 And he will get an equal share to eat, even though he has money from the sale of his parents' possessions.
8 They shall have equal portions to eat, besides what comes from the sale of his inheritance.
8 He may eat his share of the sacrifices and offerings, even if he also receives support from his family.

Commentary on Deuteronomy 18:1-8
(Read Deuteronomy 18:1-8)
Care is taken that the priests entangle not themselves with the affairs of this life, nor enrich themselves with the wealth of this world; they have better things to mind. Care is likewise taken that they want not the comforts and conveniences of this life. The people must provide for them. He that has the benefit of solemn religious assemblies, ought to give help for the comfortable support of those that minister in such assemblies.
