There are many underrated Bible verses that are overlooked by many believers. Despite every single word in the Bible being important, it can be easy to overlook certain verses and passages.
It is important for believers to be aware of all Bible verses, even the ones that are seen as underrated. Oftentimes, the greatest Bible verses are the underrated ones. A few of my favorite Bible verses are the ones that are not super popular.
We should never dismiss a Bible verse or a Bible passage because it is not seen as popular. Sadly, when a Bible verse becomes popular, it tends to lose its effect.
Rather than being inspiring, it becomes just another mindless saying. This is why it is important to resurrect very underrated Bible verses in order to bring you back to wanting to learn more about Jesus.
If you are a strong believer, looking more into underrated Bible verses is the way to go. Even though they might not be as recognizable compared to John 3:16 or Psalm 23, they are still wonderful Bible verses that we need to keep at the front of our hearts.
Look over a few of these underrated Bible verses below and see if they speak to your heart in a way other verses have not.
Since these verses are underrated, you might not be as familiar with them, and they may bring brightness into your walk with Jesus. As believers, we need to always be growing in our faith and a great way to do this is by learning more Bible verses.
Bible verses are great to memorize as well because by memorizing them, you will not be prone to forgetting them anytime soon. Choose one of these underrated Bible verses below and try to memorize it.
Maybe you want to choose another verse that is underrated or overlooked and stick with that one. This is completely okay too.
Choose whatever feels best to you and keep this verse on the top of your mind this week. Even though the verse is underrated does not mean that it should be any longer. Here are five underrated Bible verses that need to be given more attention.

1. 1 Timothy 6:6
One underrated Bible verse is 1 Timothy 6:6. In this passage of Scripture, Paul says, "But godliness with contentment is great gain." The epistle of 1 Timothy was written by Paul to his beloved son in the faith, Timothy.
Paul was warning Timothy in this letter as well as encouraging him. Paul encourages Timothy in this passage by telling him that godliness with contentment is a great gain.
He goes on to say that we brought nothing into this world and there is nothing we can take with us (1 Timothy 6:7). Since this is true, we should be content with what we have.
If we have food, drink, and clothes, we should be content with that. As Paul says in 1 Timothy 6:6, godliness with contentment is great gain.
This might be underrated as a Bible verse because it talks about contentment. In the modern world, it seems to take a great deal of material wealth and possessions in order for people to be content.
Despite what people think leads to contentment and happiness, it is not true. 1 Timothy 6:6 tells us the exact opposite because we can be content without these things.
Moreover, we know Jesus, and this should bring the greatest contentment into our hearts. If you are looking for an underrated Bible verse to study, 1 Timothy 6:6 is a great choice. It helps teach you about contentment as well as points you back to the truth of Jesus.
If we follow Jesus and are content with what we have, we will have a better overall life compared to someone who is always scratching their way to the top. As Christians, we need to be content because we already have all things in Jesus.

2. Psalm 68:22-23
A second underrated Bible verse is Psalm 68:22-23. While the Book of Psalms is often highly regarded, not all of its passages are.
"The Lord says, 'I will bring them from Bashan; I will bring them from the depths of the sea, that your feet may wade in the blood of your foes, while the tongues of your dogs have their share.'"
As we can see, this is not a polite Bible verse. Rather than God being a forgiving individual, He is displaying His mighty wrath. While God is peace-loving, we also have to remember that He is just.
The Lord knows that we have enemies, and His enemies are anyone who goes against Him. If everyone opposes God and rejects Him, they become His enemies. In fact, we are all God's enemies until we place faith in Jesus.
At the moment of salvation, we are no longer seen as enemies of God. Instead, we are seen as His friends. Nonetheless, we can see why and how Psalm 68:22-23 is often underrated, but it shouldn't be.
Psalm 68:22-23 gives us a clear picture of the wrath of God. He does not allow His enemies to gloat over him. Everyone who does wrong will be repaid in full.
God is a God of peace; however, there cannot be peace when evil is prevailing. The Lord does not want evil to rule the day, therefore, He does destroy it and one day, He will completely destroy evil.
Even though Psalm 68:22-23 can be a bit too much for modern readers, it does not mean this verse does not have value. In fact, it teaches us about the righteous nature of God and how vengeance will be His.

3. Ephesians 5:17
A third underrated Bible verse is Ephesians 5:17. The Book of Ephesians was written by the Apostle Paul.
Even though Ephesians is a popular book overall, not many people do a deep dive into its contents. With this in mind, it is important for us to look at the specific verse of Ephesians 5:17.
In this verse, Paul says, "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is" (Ephesians 5:17). As Paul so beautifully states in this Bible verse, Christians do not need to be foolish, but rather, we need to understand what the Lord's will is and to do it.
We should not get drunk on wine that leads to problems, but rather we should be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). If more people as individuals took Ephesians 5:17 to heart, there would be a lot fewer problems inside and outside the church.
As Christians, there is no excuse to be caught up in the practices of the world. We should not be foolish and fall into the same traps set by the devil. Instead, we need to be following God and be knowledgeable about what He wants for our lives.
God does not want us to live lives that are in opposition to Him. He wants us to live our lives abundantly and to give no room for the sinful flesh. It is of no benefit to us if we continue to live foolish lives after we are saved.
That would be as though we were never saved in the first place. As Christians, we need to dedicate our lives to serving God and give up doing foolish things that are of no benefit to our walk with the Lord. We need to train ourselves in the Bible and follow what it says.

4. Matthew 7:16
A fourth underrated Bible verse is Matthew 7:16. This Bible verse is actually one of my all-time favorite Bible verses and it has helped me greatly in my walk with the Lord.
The Bible verse of Matthew 7:16 says, "By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?"
This Bible verse is spoken by the Lord Himself as He is talking with His disciples. He tells them that a good tree can only bear good fruit, but that a bad tree can only bear bad fruit. The same rings true for people.
It is by their "fruit" that you will recognize real believers. If a person is a true believer, they will not be living a life opposed to the gospel. They will not be cheating, lying, or stealing their way through life. Rather, they will be living a life that is focused on serving God and loving others.
If an individual claims they are a Christian, yet by their fruit, you see them as not being a true Christian, try to help them. Don't judge them or accuse them of not being a Christian. Instead, be kind and open to talking about things.
The Lord gives us this analogy in order for us to remember it. Remembering that a good tree bears good fruit, and a bad tree bears bad fruit is not a hard concept to grasp.
By the Lord speaking to His disciples in this way, it would be easier for them to remember. Therefore, even though this Bible verse is underrated and overlooked does not mean it is not important. Some could even argue this is one of the most important verses of the entire Bible.

5. Colossians 1:15
A fifth underrated Bible verse is Colossians 1:15. This Bible verse has to be one of the most underrated Bible verses, yet it is one of the most important. Colossians 1:15 says, "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."
This is a beautiful passage that points us back to Jesus as well as the story of creation. It also gives us a glimpse of the Trinity. With all of these factors in mind, we do not need to underrate this Bible passage any longer. In fact, this should be a crucial passage that we share with others.
Colossians 1:15 tells us the truth that Jesus is the image of the invisible God. This tells us that Jesus is God. In fact, it gives us a hint at the Trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all God. One God, yet three distinct Persons.
Through understanding Colossians 1:15, we will be better equipped to understand harder parts of Christianity such as the Trinity. Not to mention this passage also attests to how Jesus was present at creation.
By the Lord being present at creation, we see that He was included in the overall creation of the world. Often, we think of only the Father being present at creation; however, the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were all present at creation.
Since they are all God, they have taken part in creating everything, including mankind. May we all praise the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for all of the beautiful things they have created.
We never need to underrate such beautiful passages because we will miss out on many things the Lord is trying to teach us.
