God tells us in Jeremiah 32:27, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” Since God made this statement, does it mean that nothing is too hard for Him? If you are interested in uncovering the truth, continue to read this article in order to discover the truth if anything is too hard for God.
What Is Too Hard for God?
In Jeremiah 32:27, God plainly tells us that nothing is too hard for Him. In the broader context of this passage of Scripture in Jeremiah 32, Israel has once again disobeyed God and they are going to be taken by the Babylonians for a 70-year stint in captivity.
Even though Israel was going to be taken into captivity by the Babylonians, it would not endure forever as God would eventually save His people from the hand of the Babylonians. God could save Israel from the hand of the Babylonians because He is greater, stronger, and more powerful than anyone else.
Truly, nothing is too hard for God. Through time, many people have questioned God and questioned His goodness. To be honest, I too have questioned God. The Lord can do anything, yet it doesn’t mean He will answer yes to every prayer we pray.
Nothing is too hard for God because He created all the planets, every animal, and every person in the entire world. God can do all things, yet He doesn’t always choose to do something.
The Lord’s decisions go beyond our understanding, thus many things that happen in our life, we may not understand. Even when things happen a different way than we expected or wanted, we can still trust God.
God’s Power in the Bible
God has displayed many times throughout the Bible the power of His strength. In the Book of Genesis, God tells Abraham and Sarah that they will have a child.
Abraham and Sarah are both skeptical of God’s power, yet God says, “Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son” (Genesis 18:14).
God fulfills His promise to Abraham and Sarah, in which Sarah bears a son (Genesis 21:1-8). Yes, Abraham and Sarah had to wait, but God did fulfill His promise to them. From the perspective of Abraham and Sarah, it seemed impossible or “too hard” for them to have a child at such ages.
Sarah was barren as she could not have children during her life and by the time God had made the promise to Abraham and Sarah, they were both already quite old. In the eyes of Abraham and Sarah, having a child at this age was not possible.
Despite Abraham and Sarah’s skepticism, God blesses them with a baby boy, who they named Isaac. When Isaac was born, Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 99 years old (Genesis 17:17, Genesis 17:21:1-8).
It is understandable as to why Abraham and Sarah would be doubtful of God’s promises; however, just as God says, nothing is too hard for Him (Genesis 18:14). If God can provide the way for an elderly couple to have a child, then God can do anything.
Providing Redemption
In addition to opening the womb of Sarah and bringing Israel out of captivity from Babylon, God also proved nothing is too hard for Him by providing salvation for all mankind. God provided salvation for all people by sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins.
Ever since the Fall of Man, mankind has been separated from God. The Lord knew there was nothing mankind could do to restore their relationship with Him, therefore, God redeemed mankind by His own work on the cross.
Nothing is too hard for God, including being incarnate as a man, living on the earth, dying for the sins of the world, and being resurrected from the dead. If God could do this, then He can do anything.
It’s amazing how much we can doubt God in the little things of life, yet we know we can rely on Him for salvation and forgiveness. Since God can do anything and nothing is too hard for Him, we can trust Him and rely on Him.
Look around you and see all that God has done in the world and through your life. God created the world ex nihilo, which means God created the world out of nothing. Every single flower, plant, and animal was created by God.
Each person was created by the Savior of the world. Psalm 139:13-16 tells us,
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Things can be too hard for us as human beings, but nothing is too hard for God. The Lord is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, which means He is all-powerful. Everything that happens in our life is not allowed without God’s permission.
Even bad things that happen in our lives have a purpose. God works all things out for our good even if we don’t understand it at the time (Romans 8:28).
Application Today
If you are going through a difficult time today, understand that nothing is too hard for God. Whether that be an illness, a job interview, or a declining friendship, God can work miracles. Nothing is too hard for God — nothing.
Even if it seems too difficult for us, it is not too difficult for God. The Lord created the earth, the heavens, the animals, and mankind. He has also provided the way for us to obtain eternal life by placing faith in His death, burial, and resurrection.
If God can do this, He can truly do anything. In our own abilities, many things seem too hard. On a daily basis, it is easy for us to forget God’s unlimited power, but this should not be. We need to be constantly looking back to God and trusting in His mighty power.
As Christians, we cannot be tossed and thrown around anytime something bad happens. Instead, we have to stand firm in the faith and not give up.
We will come across many difficult times over the course of our lives, and we will be discouraged at times; however, we need to remember the truth that nothing is too hard for God.
Everything in the world and beyond the planet was made by God. Nothing and nobody are stronger than God. This means that God is the most powerful being of all time and nothing is too hard for Him.
Whenever you find yourself doubting God, remind yourself of this truth — nothing is too hard for God. His love for you far exceeds anything in all creation. Nothing can separate us from God’s love as Paul tells us,
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39).
Since God has so much love for all of us, we can be certain that He will always come to help us. Nothing is too hard for God.
