Have you ever wondered about God’s plan for your life or your loved ones? The Bible is filled with God’s messages to His children. In every moment of day and night, we can rest in the promises of the Father and learn God’s plan quotes. With His Word, God allows us to know Him and share His love with others.
God is the only one who knows His specific plans for each of His creations. Yet, through His Word, we can learn His promises and absorb the reminders of His love for us. The Word of God is alive today. Reading the Bible helps build a deep relationship with the Father.
1. “And God said ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light” (Genesis 1:3 NIV).
One of the first actions was when God formed the heavens and the earth. He spoke and created light. As Genesis continues, the account unfolds, telling of God’s glorious creations. God created, and on the seventh day, He rested.
2. “And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die’” (Genesis 2:16-17 NIV).
God gave instructions, and Adam was expected to follow those instructions. There would be consequences for disobedience then, and there are consequences for disobedience now.
3. “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him’” (Genesis 2:18 NIV).
After God had created man, He decided to give him a helper, so God created woman from the rib of Adam. God never intended us to be alone.
4. “But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9 NIV)
A profound question. God asked, and He already knew the answer. We can’t hide from God. Our shortcomings, fears, and mistakes are all known by the Father. Acknowledging our sins and repenting is the first step in seeking His forgiveness and preparing for the future.
5. “So do not fear, for I am with you: do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you: I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10 NIV).
Throughout the Bible, God gives His promise to always be with us. God never promises a smooth path in life. He promises to be with His children always. Tough times will come and go. Our refuge is found in Him.
1. “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love: with him I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17 NIV).
God spoke when John baptized Jesus in the Jordan river. God’s plan was being fulfilled with the baptism of His Son Jesus.
2. “When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life.’” And the disciples were filled with grief.” (Matthew 17:22-23 NIV).
Jesus knew His Father’s plan was best. Emotions of thinking about what was to come filled the disciples with sadness.
3. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30 NIV).
In this passage, Jesus shares that God’s children will not be taken away from Him. We have eternal life with the Father.
4. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:4 NIV).
God wants everyone to know Him and to have a meaningful relationship with Him.
5. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).
Our hope is found in Him alone. God’s plan is always the right one. His love is everlasting.
The Word of God is where we ultimately find our hope, but thoughts by notable Christian thinkers can help us reflect on God's plan in new ways, based on their unique lives.
1. “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” — Corrie Ten Boom
Ten Boom experienced persecution during World War II. In Ravensbrück concentration camp, she suffered heartache, physical and mental anguish, yet continued to trust God. Her example of obedience and trust reminds us of the hope found in Him.
2. “God does not give us everything we want, but he does fulfill his promises, leading us along the best and straightest paths to himself.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
God’s answer to prayer may be different than what we desire, yet we can trust in God’s path for us.
3. “Let go and let God.” — Norman Vincent Peale
This quote has been seen on stationary, greeting cards, t-shirts, and more. By letting go of our fears and giving them to God, we acknowledge that God will take care of us.
4. “When all else fails…pray the gospel.” — Brian Croft
As Christians, we know the first action should be to pray. Don’t wait until all else fails. Pray first. God is listening. He hears every prayer.
5. “We must learn that to expect God to do everything while we do nothing is not faith but superstition.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.
Trust God and obey His commandments. Share His love with others. Show His glory in words and actions.
1. “God has given us two hands, one to receive with and the other to give with.” — Rev. Billy Graham
The words and preachings of Rev. Billy Graham brought many people to know the Lord. Reports state that he felt his purpose in life was to share the gospel and to help others have a relationship with God. Rev. Billy Graham wanted the focus to be on God and His plan.
2. “God will meet you where you are in order to take you where He wants you to go.” — Pastor Tony Evans
God desires everyone to recognize their sinfulness, repent of those sins, and seek forgiveness. When we trust in the Father, He will lead us on the right path for the future.
3. “God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile.” — Pastor Max Lucado
The Bible tells about the struggles of many people. God has not promised a peaceful life on this earth. He has promised healing and restoration will be found in Heaven.
4. “You were made by God and for God and until you understand that, life will never make sense.” — Pastor Rick Warren
God created us. His plan may not be known at this point in life. However, knowing that we are His can bring comfort and peace. Trust in the Lord always.
5. “If you get into the Word, you find out that God doesn’t love you because you’re good, but because He’s good.” — Mark Hall, Pastor and lead singer of Casting Crowns
God’s love and His plan for our lives don’t exist because of how good we are or what we do. God loves us because of who He is; His love is more than we can comprehend. The plan God has for each of His children is special and unique.
Staying in God’s Word allows us to learn more about Him. Scripture shares the glory and magnificence of the Father. God’s plan is always the right one. If you have questions, pray to the Father and ask for His guidance.
Dear God, thank You for creating us. Thank You for having unique and wonderful plans. Help us to remember Your way is always the best. When we struggle to understand what is happening and how to deal with situations, please provide us with guidance and wisdom. Remind us to take all worries and concerns to You, knowing the answers will come in Your way and timing. We love You. Amen.
