Pastor and Worship Leader Delivers Jaw-Dropping Performance on The Voice

Updated May 24, 2024

Josh Sanders, a pastor and worship leader from North Carolina, delivered a jaw-dropping country performance during his blind audition on The Voice.

God has blessed everyone with a variety of skills, gifts, and talents. While we are ultimately responsible for how we use those abilities, He intends for us to bring glory and honor to His name. Of course, one of the more obvious ways to do that is to sing and perform in a house of worship.

Bringing glory and honor to the Lord’s name is what Josh does as he is a pastor and worship leader. During his blind audition, Josh used his God-given musical gifts to wow the studio audience and the judges with a stunning rendition of Nate Smith’s tune, “Whiskey on You.”

From the opening moments of his electric performance, Josh has the audience on his side. Everyone is on their feet, dancing and singing along with him.

However, the judges were a bit more apprehensive initially to turn their chairs around for him. Several judges bobbed their heads all around as Josh belted the lyrics.

At one point during his audition, Reba McEntire, The Queen of Country Music, looked over at her fellow country artists, Dan + Shay, and expressed her thoughts on the pastor.

“I like him,” she says.

Seconds later, Reba flips her chair around for the North Carolina pastor.

Then, right before his performance ends, Dan + Shay also turn their chairs for the country music-singing minister.

Reba gave Josh several big compliments, mentioning how much she enjoyed his country music performance.

“I loved your vocal,” she said. “I thought it was great. It was stout. The power, once you really got into it, I really did like it.”

Eventually, Josh selected Reba as his coach. If you’re a musician and into country music, how could you not pick Reba McEntire as your coach?
