‘For All My Life’ – Taya – Christian Music

Life can become a confounding and confusing mess, filled with uncertainty and hurt. People, with their own faulty reasoning and poor choices, can take their life in a direction they never intended. In those times when things are unclear, when the answers aren’t apparent, there is someone to turn to for guidance.

In the song “For All My Life,” the musician Taya sings about whom she is going to when things get murky, and the path forward is questionable. As the song mentions, she is putting her “all her life” in God’s hands.

The first verse perfectly captures the confusion most people feel at one time or another. Who will she turn to when she's unable to bear the weight of everything and when her mind has become overwhelmed? 

The chorus beautifully answers the question she poses. 

“When my future is a little uncertain
Who can I turn to, turn to today
Who can I turn to, I turn to You”

Taya points out that instead of trusting and leaning on her own knowledge and reasoning, she will place all her trust in the Lord. The Lord, the song says, will be there whenever work becomes too much, and whenever she is running on empty, He will fill her cup.

What a terrific song about faith and letting go of everything that may be holding us back! It takes a lot of faith to step out and go wherever the Lord may lead, even if it may not make sense at the time. 

His will and purpose for our lives will always be greater than our own. People trying to go at it alone, who attempt to “lean on their own understanding” will encounter more problems and issues. 

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
