Blind Musician Returns to AGT Stage with ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ Piano Performance

A blind, Golden Buzzer-winning musician returned to the stage on America’s Got Talent and stunned the studio audience and the judges with her inspired rendition of a beloved classic from Elton John.

Contestants, after their initial audition on programs like American Idol, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent, must continually raise their game. Those three shows are competitions after all. Everyone is competing for the one and only top stop. The judges and the audience may have been surprised and enjoyed what they heard the first time, but to remain on the show, they must show something new every time they take the stage. 

In a clip posted on YouTube, Putri Ariani showed, once again, why she was so deserving of Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer. While seated at a piano on a beautifully lit stage, the young woman tickled the ivories and sang Elton John’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” 

From the opening seconds of her dazzling performance, the young Indonesian singer puts on a magnificent display. Her singing is stunning and sounds like that of a seasoned professional who has been gracing stages for decades. 

At the conclusion of her outstanding performance, the entire room is rightfully on their feet, showing their appreciation for what they have just witnessed and heard. Putri will be tough to beat, as Howie mentions when giving feedback on her singing of the Elton John hit.

For Simon, Putri’s performance was confirmation that she was more than deserving of his lone Golden Buzzer for the season.

“It’s got nothing to do with the fact that I gave her the Golden Buzzer,” Simon said. “I think anyone of us would have given Putri the Golden Buzzer. You are one of those rare little diamonds we come across every few years who is naturally born to do this.”
