American Idol Contestant Sings Worship Song ‘Holy Water’ by We the Kingdom
One contestant on American Idol used her latest appearance to sing a worship song in which she describes God’s forgiveness.
The current season of American Idol is progressing to its inevitable conclusion. The field of hopefuls continues to be whittled down as those left continually raise their game. The number of contestants remaining on the show has now reached 20.
America is now voicing its opinions as viewers text in their votes. One of those still hoping to become the next winner of American Idol is Megan Danielle.
In her latest performance on the American Idol stage, Megan treated the audience and the judges to a rendition of “Holy Water” by the Christian music group We the Kingdom.
Wearing a purple dress, Megan stepped onto the stage as lighting perfectly matching her outfit shone on the platform. Once she reached the microphone, Megan began belting the lyrics in her southern drawl.
In the first verse, Megan sings that she’s facing a trying situation. She is on her knees in prayer, seeking the Lord’s guidance. She adds that walking down life’s desert roads alone has left her soul desiring God.
In the song’s chorus, Megan describes God’s beautiful, loving, and sweet forgiveness. His forgiveness of her sins is literally music to her ears; she sings.
“Your forgiveness
Is like sweet, sweet honey on my lips
Like the sound of a symphony to ears
Like Holy water on my skin”
Most contestants on shows such as American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The Voice opt for more secular songs. Those tunes usually contain sanitized messages, with mentions of God, Jesus, forgiveness, sin, and the like nowhere to be found.
However, Megan went the other route and sang a song about God’s gift of forgiveness. She did so in extraordinary fashion; the three judges gave her a standing ovation, and the studio audience erupted in applause.
"Be gentle to one another and having forgiveness for one another, if anyone has done wrong to his brother, even as the Lord had forgiveness for you” (Colossians 3:13).
