Why Silence on Sexuality Is Hurting the Church

Updated Jul 16, 2024

Have you noticed the confusion around the topic of sex and sexuality, especially in the church? We need to have the mind of Christ when it comes to dealing with sex and sexuality.

Scripture reminds us that sex was created for marriage. Yet statistics say that more than half of Christians in this nation think it's okay to have sex out of wedlock. There's a problem that has grown out of our silence. I think that we've got to start encouraging our leaders to talk about this issue, bring this before Christ, open up the word, and return to a purer way of living, loving, and behaving, not just in our bodies, but with our minds and our hearts and our souls.

To state the awkward, difficult truth:  premarital sex is wrong. God created sex for marriage. Purity is important. It's not just about a bunch of rules. It's about understanding how you're loved and how God wants you to think when you think about the blessings he has for you in the sanctity of a relationship called marriage. I want to encourage you that it's never too late, no matter how old you are. If you're doing things is not working for you, then I invite you to open up and allow the Lord to cleanse and wash you. I invite you to repent of your sin and to really and truly surrender each and every area of your life and your heart and your mind and your body to Christ who died for you.
