What to Do When You Don't Have the Words to Pray

As for me, I call to God and the Lord saves me. Psalm 55 16. Jessica knelt beside her bed trying to find the words, but her heart felt heavy and her mind was blank.

The weight of her worries had silenced her prayers, leaving her feeling disconnected and lost. She knew she needed to pray, but the words just wouldn't come. I could understand my friend's heaviness.

Can you relate? There are times when life's burdens feel so overwhelming that even prayer seems impossible. We long for peace, but the weight of our cares leaves us feeling too weary to speak. Psalm 55:22 offers a reassuring promise.

Psalm 55:22

In this verse, David encourages us to cast our cares on the Lord, reminding us that God will sustain us. Even when we can't find the words to pray, God understands our needs. His promise is that he will never let the righteous be shaken, no matter how heavy our burdens may be.

When we can't pray, we are reminded that we don't have to carry our burdens alone. God invites us to simply lay them at his feet, trusting that he will hold us up. His sustaining grace provides the peace we need, even when we can't articulate our thoughts or feelings in prayer.

The secret to finding peace when you can't pray is surrendering your burdens to God and being willing to do that again and again. Even in silence, God hears your heart and provides the strength to carry on. Resting in his promise allows you to experience his peace, knowing that he will never let you fall.

Will you pray with me?

Lord,
I come before you with a heavy heart, struggling to find the words to pray. Help me to cast my cares on you, trusting in your promise to sustain me. Even in my silence, I know that you hear me and understand my deepest needs.
Grant me the peace that surpasses understanding, and help me to rest in your care. Strengthen my heart and give me the assurance that you will never let me be shaken. I trust in your unfailing love and sustaining grace.
Amen.
