My life has been a continual transformation from the moment I gave my life to Jesus. From that moment, it's been a journey of continual transformation by the renewing of my mind in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans,
"Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." - Romans 12:2 NLT
The renewal Paul wrote about applies to everything we're currently going through. We must actively take and hold every thought captive to Christ in every moment and season of life. Why? Because it is there that our minds begin to learn to think like Christ. We begin to understand why it wasn't just a funny little wristband on athletes' wrists that said, 'What would Jesus do?' It's something intended to be our life mantra.
What would Jesus do?
What would he think about my current thoughts? What would he do about the current day we are navigating at work, with our kids, spouse, or friends?
What would Jesus do?
How would he say what we are about to say? How would he love others in a difficult situation that also speaks the truth? He reminds us that the truth sets us free. The continual need to grow up and mature in Christ teaches us to let go and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives through our minds, thoughts, and lives. In this way, we journey through the process of sanctification in this life, accepting God's free gift of grace and allowing the Holy Spirit through Christ to mature us as each day rolls on. As we walk with Jesus, we begin to look more like him daily, learning to take our thoughts captive, embrace a renewed mind and life, and, most importantly, love God and others. We were created for a right relationship with God through Christ. We were made to seek Him for our every need continually.
