5 Reasons to Believe in the Dreams for Your Life

The world often can be callous and cynical when it comes to bright-eyed dreamers.

It will seek to shadow or dampen spirits, but the beautiful truth about life is it really is not up to the world’s judgments how a life will go. It is not the world’s to define, to determine, or to deflate.

Rather, it is more so God’s Will for your life, and your willingness to go after your dreams. Believe that the God Who splits seas and defies death most certainly can help your dreams come to fruition--and loves you enough to want to.

1. Our Attitudes Are Powerful

Joseph in the Bible was a big dreamer, both literally and in spirit.

God gifted him in communicating with him through his dreams while asleep. Genesis 37 recounts how Joseph had a vivid and spectacular dream in which God showed him in metaphor what his future would hold. This dream drove jealousy and anger from Joseph’s brothers, and they sought to deflate his efforts so much so that they sold him into slavery.

That is a solid case of others attempting to thwart your ambitions, but God had the final say. Joseph did not lose heart, though the years to follow would be challenging, he continued to stay true to God and hold in his heart what God had promised him specifically.

Genesis 39:23 shares, “because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” Joseph found his strength and attitude from the Lord, not from his surroundings.

Because his source of strength was God, his attitude kept hope alive. Despite being thrown into slavery, cast into prison, and moved to foreign lands he kept his eyes on God. God kept His promise to Joseph, for years later Joseph would use the gifts of his dreams and dream interpretation the Lord had given him in Holy Sight to help the Pharaoh in Egypt.

Joseph ended up as Pharaoh’s right-hand man, and the dreams he had as a young teen would play out just as God had shown. Our attitudes determine much of our altitudes.

We can choose to view our surroundings and all the reasons why our dreams are hopeless, or we can place our eyes directly on God, knowing He knows the path well for our lives and can be trusted to be kind, faithful, and the source of our strength.

2. Each of Our Lives Are Completely Unique 

Snowflakes are one of the most peculiar treasures of our earth. Each one is intrinsically different in shape, design, and form yet they all come from the same material of liquid iced water.

Human lives are similar to this. We are all flesh and bone, created in the image of our Creator and made by His hand, yet each of us is intrinsically different, no two alike.

We each have a specific look about us, and we each have a story that has never been lived before. Snowflakes can be similar, as can human’s stories, but no two are exactly the same.

We can find encouragement through the Word in the testimonies shared in the Bible of when God worked to bring about His glory and the benefit of others to those who remained faithful to Him. We too can trust and believe that God is never changing (Hebrews 13:8, 1 Samuel 15:22).

When we place our trust, our dreams, and our futures in His hands, we can rest assured He will be with us. He may change or reshape dreams you had, but just as He promised in Matthew 7, He is a good Father Who seeks to give good gifts to His children.

We can also know that just because a path did not work out for someone else, does not determine our paths. He has written our stories by His pen, but we have to trust that any good adventure story will have its twists along the way.

Your story has never been lived before, and it matters to His heart even more than it matters to your heart. Your story is one of a kind, and it will never be duplicated, it is exclusive to your life. Know your life is unique, your dreams are unique, and if He cares enough to weave particles of ice in one of a kind fashion, think how much more He has planned for you.

3. God's Timing Is Perfect

3. God's Timing Is Perfect

When a tree is planted it begins as a seed, much like a dream.

Some dreams are welled up in your heart and originate from your desires, but often times God will plant a seed of hope within. Ask Him to plant such dreams, and sustain them with His Spirit towards fruition and growth.

Know that as trees have rings that reveal years of drought and years of abundance so will the growth of your ambitions be. At times, it will be a flourishing example that makes a heart leap with joy, but at other times drought and storm will come.

It is in the times of hardship that remembering the faithfulness of the past is vital for survival. Find your source of water in the One Who gives life eternal.

Know too that harvest comes at His timing, not the timing we would set for preference.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 shares that there is “a time for everything, and everything in its time.” Typically, our timelines would be petitioned as soon as possible, but God is a big picture, long term God. He sees the whole thing.

He knows in order for you to step into the roles or positions you wish for, you must be ready for it. He takes His time to mature us, to mold us, and to work within us in order that we may be prepared. Know His timing is perfect, He is the Author of time, so His watch is never late.

4. God Works in All Things, Even Our Setbacks

4. God Works in All Things, Even Our Setbacks

Setbacks to dreams can make a soul weary, but they are not always such a harmful occurrence in retrospect. Delays or hindrances stir up our mindsets in order that we may redirect our route.

It is easy to become so micro focused on something that we entirely miss the bigger picture, so these fall backs may be a wakeup call in order that we don’t completely miss the destination. They also place things into perspective that perhaps we must come forward towards the Lord again and affirm all He has said, done, or placed before us.

God can see the end game, so believe He has His reasons for things. Know that the Lord is with you, and what we may deem as an obstacle now perhaps one day will be the thing we praise Him for when we look back. Don’t give up, redirect your focus on Him and listen with an open heart and mind to what He has planned.

He can be trusted to do what is best in the end.

Romans 8:28 tells us "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." 

Although it has become a verse you often see on coffee mugs, it doesn't make it any less true! God works ALL things together for His glory and our benefit by His Holy Spirit.

This means that it isn’t the end, He is working and weaving and building and growing events, people, and things for the end goal of the Kingdom. Many of the good things planned will not be seen on Earth, but that makes them no less real and vital in Heaven.

Perspective is key when things go awry to know He is working all things together. As Corrie Ten Boom once said, “When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”

Trust the God Who placed the stars in the sky is in control ever still in your life.

5. Remember God Wants to Give Us Abundantly More 

The greatest reason to believe in the dreams for your life is because we serve the God of abundantly more.

Ephesians 3:17-21 reminds, “so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Finding ourselves deeply rooted within God and established in His love brings us access to come to know Him deeply to our fullest measure. It is then that we can see truly He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than all we could ask for, dream for, or imagine.

He was not being fictitious in this promise, He means it. Take God out of the box, take your life out of the box, and place it in His hands. Boldly stand in belief and faith that He will do more than you can even dream up, because it will be by His measure, which is infinitely more than all we could ever hope for.

Dreams in our lives are much like the talents mentioned in Matthew 25:14. We can be like the servant who buried his and never saw a bit of fruit, or we can choose to invest our dreams like the other two servants. Invest in what it takes to grow a dream, invest in ourselves, and most of all invest in the Giver of all good things in Christ.

Believe boldly He loves you and that His dreams for you are good, truly and intrinsically good. Don’t give up, dream with the maker of the galaxies.
