CSB Worldview Study Bible: Applying Eternal Truth to Modern Issues

The Colson Center is committed to helping Christians develop a Christian worldview. Our vision is to see Christ-followers live out their faith with clarity, confidence, and courage in the midst of the challenges of this cultural moment. But just where does such a worldview come from?

I hope you won’t be surprised to hear me say, “Primarily from the Bible”! While there are lots of great sources that can help us develop and share a Christian worldview—including this program, we hope—the sine qua non is, and must be, God’s Word.

Unfortunately, what often passes for a Christian worldview these days is disconnected from the Bible. We’re all tempted to confuse our politics or cultural values, or even our own personal experiences and feelings, with an authentically Christian worldview. But the only way to ensure that our Christian worldview is in fact Christian is to root it in the Bible. That is why I’m excited about the brand-new CSB Worldview Study Bible.

The CSB Worldview Study Bible features more than 150 worldview study notes and articles by notable Christian scholars—including several connected to the Colson Center, such as Trevin Wax, Colson Fellows Director Dr. Bill Brown, Jennifer Marshall, Dr. David Dockery, and many more. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that my BreakPoint colleague John Stonestreet, contributed a great article that answers the question, “What Is a Human?”

“As important as determining how people should behave,” John writes in the article, “is settling on what people are. Different visions about what it means to be human compete in the marketplace of ideas. These notions, when lived out in the real world, have serious consequences for individuals, communities, nations, and entire cultures.”

Indeed. In the article, John carefully and clearly shows how only the Christian worldview produces a firm foundation for human dignity, and how our dignity transcends gender, ethnicity, and abilities. In naturalistic worldviews such as atheism or secularism, we are merely the result of mindless physical processes and there is no Creator to give us any special status. We therefore have no intrinsic dignity, so we must seek it through extrinsic things, such as appearance or abilities, to distinguish ourselves from other humans, or even “other animals.”

When you grasp this, it’s easy to see why modern evils such as eugenics, genocide, and abortion are so seductive.

The Bible, of course, should shape the way we think about everything—science and evolution, films, LGBT issues, medical ethics, the environment, and politics. As the great Abraham Kuyper said, “No single piece of our mental world is to be hermetically sealed off from the rest, and there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: ‘Mine!’”

But with a lot of the modern issues we face, it’s hard to find chapter and verse in scripture. So we need to be able to apply the principles we find in Scripture to issues that the biblical authors could never have imagined . . . which makes this study Bible especially helpful and needed.

Of course, we have a copy for you at our online bookstore at BreakPoint.org. Also, you can get a free pdf download of John Stonestreet’s chapter by visiting BreakPoint.org/free.

And know that when you order anything at BreakPoint.org, you are helping to support our BreakPoint commentaries, our short courses and webinars, the Colson Fellows Program, podcasts, and more.

We so appreciate your support.

And here’s another great opportunity: On Friday, July 13, at 2 PM eastern time, we will host a FREE webinar for BreakPoint listeners with John Stonestreet and Trevin Wax on the importance of the CSB Worldview Study Bible and how it all came together. To register, click here.
