Seeing Jesus in Mark
THE BIBLE:
Read it to be wise,
Believe it to be safe, and
Practice it to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to sustain you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's chart.
Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of Hell disclosed.
Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully.
It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure.
In short: READ IT DAILY, TRUST IT COMPLETELY and OBEY IT ALWAYS.
The Bible contains:
Ø 3,566,480 letters,
Ø 810,697 words,
Ø 31,179 verses,
Ø 1,189 chapters, and
Ø 66 books.
Ø Of the 1189 chapters in God's Word the New Testament has 250 and the Old Testament has 939.
Ø Half of all the books in the Bible are no longer than two columns of a modern newspaper.
Ø It only takes 78 to 80 hours to read the Bible all the way through!
Perhaps the most dangerous thing we could do for the status quo of spiritual life in America is to ask God to give us spiritual insights into His Word. Psalms 119:18 is a prayer to see the Lord in my everyday life.
