 Jeremiah 1:4-5

“Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’”

Identity comes before action!

Jeremiah was a prophet called by God to preach a message of repentance for the people of his hometown. His message was rejected throughout most of his ministry. He lived in isolation, suffered persecution, and saw, from an earthly perspective, little success in his lifetime.

God told Jeremiah that he knew him and had picked him for this task of being a prophet. God didn’t wait to make his choice until after Jeremiah proved his potential as a preacher or until Jeremiah demonstrated consistency and discipline.

No, God chose Jeremiah before he was ever born. Before Jeremiah could do anything to merit God’s love and acceptance, God chose him.

Be reminded of who you are in Christ today! God has accepted you and adopted you as his child. He loves you and that will never change. By keeping this knowledge in the forefront of your mind, like Jeremiah, you will be able to continue doing what God has called you to do without worrying about what people think or say about you, knowing that you have God’s love and acceptance.
