Psalm 74:16-17

“Yours is the day, yours also the night; you have established the heavenly lights and the sun. You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.”

God is the God of all seasons!

When people ask me what my favorite season is I can never make up my mind. I see the beauty in all seasons. Sometimes the beauty is obvious and sometimes the beauty makes us search for it.

This is also true of life’s seasons. There is beauty in celebratory seasons—when we graduate from school, or when we get promotions, or when the big day arrives and we get to say yes to the love of our lives.

And can I suggest that there is beauty in the hard seasons? Not in the natural, of course. There is no beauty in losing a loved one to cancer or being made redundant without much notice, or in being rejected.

But can I suggest that even in those dark seasons there is beauty? There is beauty in the truth that Jesus said he would never leave us or abandon us. Therefore there is beauty in knowing that even in our darkest seasons we have a steady friend who is there to comfort and help. There is beauty in knowing the doctor’s reports don’t always have the answer because there is a name above all names at which disease must also bow.

He has made summer and winter. And he can be found in summer and in winter.

What season are you in? Can you find God in your season?
