Hebrews 6:17-20

In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Who God is makes His promises completely reliable!

It is impossible for God to lie.” The writer of Hebrews has just been talking about God’s promise to Abraham and Sarah that He would bless them with children. It was a promise that seemed totally impossible, as Sarah was way, WAY beyond childbearing age.

Abraham trusted this promise because of who it was that promised it, and we can trust that same One with His promises to us. His nature guarantees the truth of His words. His promises to His people have never failed since the beginning of time.

God doesn’t always do what we want, or act on our timetable, but no matter what is going on, He wants us to remember that His words can give us “hope”, because He never fails.
