“Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?”
There is a place of inner rest and peace that is found by acknowledging that you don't have what it takes to respond properly to the impossible situation you face!
Jesus waited for both Philip and Andrew to acknowledge that what they had could not possibly meet the need before he acted. He wants you to know that he will wait for you to learn that lesson too.
As long as you think you have to come up with the solution, the way out, you will be anxious, stressed, irritable, and frantic. But once you come to the realization that you are not adequate for this, that Jesus will have to step in, and you turn to him, then you step into that place of peace as you wait for him to unfold his plan.
