1 Corinthians 12:21-22 (NIV)
"The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable.
What we see as weaker, God sees as indispensable!
Brother Samuel, Ambassadors for Christ International National Director of Pakistan, writes about a time his ministry team of evangelists came together for a 5-day retreat. They spent the time sharing and evaluating their ministries individually and as a team. Members of the group were able to be open and honest with each other, sharing together about their problems, weaknesses, strengths, and ministry issues.
As they discussed their weaknesses as a team, each evangelist had his own perspective, which gave them all new insights about the way they are working together. With these new insights came a deeper appreciation of the part each person plays on the team.
Discussions about leadership and teams can sometimes sound like survival of the fittest: the strong are rated in terms of their ability to produce and the weak are ruthlessly culled. The Apostle Paul reveals that, in his Kingdom, God has quite a different perspective. What leadership expert would say that those parts of the team that seem to be weaker are indispensable?
Who in your life would you say is a weaker member of the team? That's easy to tell since we are usually irritated or frustrated by those members. Would you be willing to ask the Lord how that person could be 'indispensable' to what he is doing through you?
