“But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.”
The greatest priority in the life of a witness is to take time to pray!
There is a big difference between finding time to pray and taking time to pray. You will never find time. You are too busy and when you aren’t busy you are doing some stress-relieving recreational activity or just resting. You will never “find” time to pray. Taking time, on the other hand, expresses priority. It shows that you believe something to be more important than other things.
This is one part of learning to live as a witness that can’t be overlooked. You MUST take time to pray. Set apart specific time every morning (even if it’s brief) to pray about your encounters with people during the day. Also use in-between times (like when you are taking a shower) to pray about how God wants to use you. Set aside one of your regular trips in the car (going to work on Wednesdays, for example) as a prayer time. Don’t turn on the radio or your favorite podcast during that trip.
As the Father expanded Jesus’ ministry, Jesus held even more tenaciously to this priority of prayer. Do we need prayer less than Jesus did?
