Isaiah 6:1-5

“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train[a] of his robe filled the temple…”(v1)

We would never be the same if we saw the Lord!

Think about what Isaiah says—“I saw the Lord”. Imagine it! Isaiah was in the temple, where he probably often spent time. We don’t know why he was there or what he expected. But we know that God broke in on Isaiah’s awareness and allowed him to see God in the fullness of his glory. That encounter changed Isaiah forever. He would never be the same.

There’s so much that God wants to do in your life through his word, the Bible; he wants to transform you by the renewing of your mind. He also wants to empower you through the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. But in addition, there’s an aspect of the transformation he desires for you that doesn’t come by a renewed mind, or by greater dependence on the Holy Spirit, but only through a personal spiritual encounter with God himself.

God may not give you the same kind of vivid experience that Isaiah had, but he will meet with you through his word and through prayer, maybe as you worship in church, or maybe even in a totally unexpected place. But I encourage you to begin asking God to reveal himself to you personally.
