Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Your faithfulness
endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants.”(vv.
89-91)
God’s word is immutable. That means that it can’t change. The things said in
God’s word are as sure as any other indisputable fact on earth. As the
psalmist puts it, God’s word is settled forever in heaven.
God is faithful to what he says in his word “all generations”. That includes the
generation we are living in right now! Everything God has promised,
everything he has revealed about himself, everything he has committed
himself to, every warning he has given—all of these things—are as certain as
God’s own existence.
Nothing can stand in the way of God’s word, “for all things are your servants”.
Do you see what God is saying to you today in this passage? If God’s word is
the absolutely certain description of how God will act in your life, don’t you
think you should understand it? If God’s Word contains promises that you can
claim for your life, don’t you think you should be claiming them? If God’s Word
gives you a true understanding of God himself, don’t you think you should
study it?
What is God is saying to you today?
