2 Corinthians 3: 5-6, 17-18
"Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life”
There is enormous freedom in allowing God to do the changing of our inner lives!
There is a way of living the Christian life that is "of the letter." But that way of living "kills" your vitality and joy. That way of living insists that the Christian life is defined by performing to a set of Christian expectations. God is not in that approach to life.
"The Spirit gives life...and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Why? Because life ceases to be an attempt to meet up to expectations and becomes a joyful journey with your dearest friend. Yes, this way of life still involves Christlikeness. But the Christlikeness flows from what God is doing to transform your inner life as you develop your relationship with him.
What can you do today to deepen your relationship with Jesus?
