“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
When you respond to dark days in a godly way, it gives you an opportunity to challenge people about their own lives!
Jesus said that we’re like a lamp that someone lights and puts on a lampstand and it gives light to all who are in a dark room. The darker the room, the more you notice the lamp! Has God given you some dark days to walk through? Do you see that your difficult experience may be something that can bring great glory to God as you trust him through it and find comfort in knowing that he’s with you?
Even people who’d normally scoff at God or at you for talking about God will often be open to what you say when you’re going through hard times. And other believers will also be challenged by your godly response to suffering.
So if you’re facing some tough circumstances, ask God to show you who he wants you to speak to about spiritual things. It’ll give meaning to your hardship.
