“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
God’s grace in our lives flows from a deep experiential understanding of the issues of our lives!
If God had not become a man and lived life on this earth with all the painful realities of growing up and experiencing pain and rejection and temptation and loss and grief and joy and accomplishment and energy and tiredness and discouragement—if God had avoided all of that, then we would have a hard time relating to him on a personal level.
We would think of him as too exalted and removed from the daily issues of life. But God is saying to you today in this passage that his grace reaches into these everyday issues of your life. Because God understands life in this world, you can be confident as you come to him in prayer, that he is ready to get involved in your life at this level.
