Time with God - April 4

Sunday 4th April 2021

Proverbs 5:3-4, 6-11

For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword….Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless, lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner, and at the end of your life you groan…”(v. 3-4, 8-11)

Think about where your choices will lead you!

God is giving us two main warnings in this passage. The first is about the deception of sexual temptation. Because it is sexual, it is tantalizing and exciting. The immediacy of it blinds you to the devastation it will bring into your life. That is why the passage warns us to keep far from the source of sexual temptation.

The second warning is about “the end”—that is, the end result of your choices. Every choice you make, good or bad, is on the way somewhere. Think about the temptations you are facing today. God wants you to consider where that road will take you. If you follow that temptation, will you end up on the road to joy and peace and fruitfulness?

No. God has far better roads for you to travel. Ask him to steer you in the right direction.
