The reward of putting down your roots
October 9, 2012
As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
Mark 5:18-19
It seems that people are just moving so often today. Just a generation or so ago, people would grow up in the same little town with a little white picket fence just like in Leave It to Beaver. They typically didn’t travel as much as we do now and often stayed close to their extended families.
But wow, have things changed today. I read recently the average person in America moves 14 times in his or her lifetime. This provides a challenge to those who are looking to establish roots and relationships with others. It’s especially tough on our young people, who have to start over, find new friends, and transition into new schools.
Now I realize we’re a much more mobile society today. But I think in some part, at least, many people move because they’re afraid of putting down roots. The world outside of their hometowns is so much bigger and better—that is, until you get there and realize it really isn’t!
If you want to build real, godly relationships, find a place to put down your roots and get involved in your local community. When you establish yourself, you’ll invest in others’ lives and make a real difference for Christ!
FIND A PLACE TO PUT DOWN YOUR ROOTS AND INVEST IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS FOR THE KINGDOM.

Become the man God desires!
Dear Friend,
You might think Jesus’ disciples were so extraordinary that you can’t possibly relate to them today.
But the truth is Jesus chose ordinary men to be His disciples and change the world—proof that He uses ordinary guys to do extraordinary things!
That’s why I want to send you two powerful resources today to help you or the man in your life become the man God desires: my 8-CD series called Why Believe – The 12, and my book, Man of God: Study Guide Edition.
In Why Believe – The 12, I give you inspiration—and words of warning—from the lives and beliefs of the disciples to help you live every day with significance and purpose.
And in Man of God: Study Guide Edition, you’ll come to understand the four vital areas of a man’s life that make him who he is!
These two resources are my gift to thank youfor your donation to help PowerPoint Ministries continue proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, so please request yours when you give today!
