The power of the resurrection for your daily life
August 27
We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of visiting the country of Israel several times. And when I go, one of my favorite places to visit is the city of Jerusalem. In Jerusalem there are two major places that both lay claim and could possibly be the sites of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.
The first is called the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and has long been held as the traditional site of the cross and the tomb of Jesus Christ. The second site is called Gordon’s Calvary, and was discovered in the 19th century as another possible site.
Now regardless of where those events took place, Gordon’s Calvary is one of my favorite places to visit. It’s amazing that such a humble, inconspicuous place could’ve been right where the most important event in history might have happened. As you walk in the little tomb, an epitaph reads, “He is not here; He is risen.”
Regardless of where those events took place 2,000 years ago, one thing is sure: Jesus is not there. He is risen! And because He is risen, you have hope that anything you face in life—death, sin, hard times—can be overcome by the power of His resurrection!
CHRIST’S RESURRECTION GIVES NEW LIFE IF YOU BELIEVE IN HIM. SO TRUST HIM TO OVERCOME WHATEVER CHALLENGES YOU FACE TODAY!
