How you can have no regrets at the end

April 20, 2012

“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”

Matthew 25:21

William Borden was a wealthy aristocrat. He graduated with honors from Yale, and became a millionaire at a very young age. By all worldly accounts, he achieved the American dream. But God called William to the mission field, so he went.

People couldn’t understand it. They said, “What a waste! This young man is taking his mighty intellect and all of his money to the mission field!” And they really had an “I told you so” moment when Borden contracted disease on the mission field and died.

But as people began to peruse the journal of William Borden, they discovered account after account of how this man had given away his millions. He’d given away everything he had. He had given away his life before age thirty serving the Lord. At the conclusion of his diary, the words were written concerning his life and concerning his witness. While sick and dying he wrote, “No retreat… no regrets.”

I’m sure on the day William Borden entered heaven, he heard those words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” He gave up everything the world counted as riches for the sake of something so much better.

Whether God’s called you to a life of abundance or poverty, be faithful with what you have. Give generously. Love well. Make your life’s message, “No retreat… no regrets.”

BE FAITHFUL WITH WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU SO YOU’LL HAVE NO REGRETS ABOUT WHAT YOU COULD’VE DONE!
