You Are Where You Are Supposed to Be
by David Chadwick
God never intended for work to be an occupation – something to merely occupy your time until the weekend. Rather, he wants it to be a vocation – a calling from him to a place where he can use you for his glory.
This faith perspective has tremendous implications for your workday.
If you believe this, that means wherever you are working is exactly where God wants you to be. If not, you’d be somewhere else!
God’s call upon a person’s life is irrevocable (Romans 11:29). He is sovereign over every area of your life – in your personal life, family, and workplace (Proverbs 16:1-4). If one atom is beyond his control, then every atom is beyond his control. If God doesn’t control everything, then he doesn’t control anything.
If you are a follower of Jesus, you have placed yourself under his divine control. He knows the hours and days of your life (Job 14:5). He counts the numbers of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7).
God also controls your workplace. It’s the place to where you’ve been called by him. You are his servant there to extend his mercy, grace, and kindness to all those around you.
Therefore, as you work, believe that God has called you to your specific workplace. It is where he wants you to be. If it wasn’t, he would have called you somewhere else.
And you are to remain there until he calls you to another place – either by being let go, or through a new job opportunity.
This is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).
You’re working where God wants you to be.
Or you’d be working somewhere else!
Transform your perspective on work!
