Smiles Are Free

Your work is a vocation. It’s a calling from God. You work where you are because God has put you there. If he wanted you in another place, you’d be in another place!
Therefore, focus on being Jesus’s ambassador in your workplace (2 Corinthians 5:20). An ambassador is a citizen of one nation who lives in another. He represents the interests of his homeland to the one in which he lives.
If you follow Jesus, you are his ambassador. You are a citizen of another Kingdom living on earth representing him. And you are called to represent him well.
That is especially true in your workplace.
Therefore, during the hours you spend at work, desire to please Jesus with whatever you do. Show his grace, mercy, and kindness to whomever you come in contact with.
And here’s a simple way you can serve Jesus at work: smile. Your smiles can create positive vibes. They can encourage the downtrodden, give hope to the despairing, and reduce tension in the anxious.
And there are purported personal benefits to you. Some suggest that smiles can lower your blood pressure, relieve stress, and strengthen your immune system.
“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart” (Proverbs 15:30 NLT).
And here’s the best part: Smiles are free. They cost you nothing except the effort to flex your mouth muscles upward.
Smile at a lot of people today. This is an easy way to represent Jesus well in your workplace. It will have an infectious and positive power on those around you.
