Pray Your Day
by David Chadwick
Every good businessperson knows the importance of planning your day. If you don’t control it, it will control you.
Therefore, when you awaken each morning, you should carefully examine your schedule in order to make it as effective as possible.
More specifically, take time to examine the margins between appointments. Consider each person you’re meeting with. How can you motivate him to be more effective? Or listen more carefully to his needs? Or come up with a better strategy to solve the problem?
You remember the maxim, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” This affirms the importance of planning your day.
But may I give you some additional advice that has helped my days be more effective?
As you plan your day, also pray your day.
As your look through your daily schedule, take time to pray for each appointment. Ask God to use you as an agent of his grace, mercy, and kindness to everyone you encounter.
According to the Bible, God constantly goes before his people (Deuteronomy 31:8). This teaching suggests that God goes before you and will be present at your meeting before you even arrive.
Therefore, ask the Lord to oversee every second of your day. Seek him to guide you in all decisions you’re confronted with. Knock on his divine door for all business transactions to be successful (Matthew 7:7). Use his powerful presence through prayer in your workplace!
Plan your day. But also pray your day.
God loves it when you invite him to go before you.
And he especially loves it when you invite him into every moment.
