Not for Victory, but from Victory
By David Chadwick

Jesus has defeated the enemy. The power of sin and death has been erased for his followers. The power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in you (Romans 8:11).

Therefore, you daily thank God for leading you into triumph over the enemy (2 Corinthians 2:14). You are more than a conqueror through Jesus who loved you (Romans 8:37). The Holy Spirit who lives in you is greater than the enemy who lives in the world (1 John 4:4). Death has lost its sting (1 Corinthians 15:55). You are now seated with Christ in the heavenlies – above all your problems and circumstances (Ephesians 2:6).

If you believe this, there is a powerful implication for your daily living: You no longer fight the enemy for victory, butfrom victory.

Jesus has won your battle over sin, death, and the devil (1 John 3:8). Your job is to believe it. Don’t doubt. Walk with the swagger of a winner.

It’s the difference between fighting a war where you’re not sure if you will win versus facing an enemy where the victory has already been secured. The first perspective produces daily anxiety. The second one gives rest, peace, and security.

You’ve won. It’s done.

When Martin Luther finally realized this truth, his life changed. He had previously lived in constant fear of the enemy. He then discovered his position of victory in Jesus.

The enemy purportedly appeared by his bed one night. Martin awakened. No longer afraid of the enemy, he merely shrugged and said, “Oh, it’s just you.” And he went back to sleep.

So can you.

Just remember: You fight from victory, not for victory.

Sweet dreams!
