Life Is in the Blood

One of the most interesting verses in Leviticus is found in chapter 17, verse 11: “The life … is in the blood” (ESV).
People often debate what’s most valuable in their lives. Is it gold? Silver? Investments? Cars? Clothing? Houses?
It could easily be argued that our most valued possession is our blood. This amazing creation pulsates through our veins. It is our life. Without it, we die.
This insight gives impetus to the importance of Jesus’s death on the cross. He shed his blood to give up his life for ours. That should have been our cross. That should have been our blood shed because of our sin.
God gave up his most precious commodity: the blood of his Son for those who believe in him. All because he loves us so much!
In a deeply spiritual sense, Jesus living in those of us who believe in him means his blood is pulsating through our veins. His life flows through us.
If you have given your life to Jesus, you were purchased with the “precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:19). It was God’s most valuable possession.
Should you ever consider yourself worthless, think about this: Life is in the blood. And God’s life is in your blood through Jesus who died for you.
You could not be more valuable in God’s sight!
