Encourage Her Gifts

How can a husband help honor his wife (1 Peter 3:7)? Here is one way: Encourage her gifts.
Every wife possesses special gifts from God. Husbands honor their wives when they help them unlock gifts in service to God.
They may be academic gifts. I know that my wife, Marilynn, loves to learn. Therefore, I encouraged her to pursue her master’s degree in counseling. She did, and I was thrilled to see her so happy.
They may be ministry gifts. Perhaps your wife loves to serve others and give her life away. Help her explore how that could happen in her life.
They may be mothering gifts. Maybe your wife’s passion is to raise, nurture, and love your kids for God’s glory. Encourage her to do so!
Here are some other ways a husband can encourage his wife’s gifts:
- Pray together with her and sense the Lord’s leading for her.
- Seek the perspective of others who know her well.
- Open doors when possible.
- Cheer her on when she attempts to use her gifts (Proverbs 31:28).
When you as a husband encourage your wife to discover her gifts, you are honoring her. You are showing how much you value her as a unique creature in God’s Kingdom.
And the two of you are drawn closer and closer together.
