Any Child of God Can Love
By David Chadwick

Everyone has different talents in life. It’s evident in athletics, academics, and the workplace. Not everyone is created the same when it comes to gifts.

Most often the person with the most talents is the one who usually rises to leadership. He or she is given more responsibility over others. The salary is higher, as are the demands.

It’s often pointed out that you had no say over the talents you received. You have what you have as a result of your ancestors’ gene pools. If someone is more gifted than you, that’s just the way it is. Nothing more can be done.

Or maybe that’s not correct. Perhaps more can be done.

The Bible says that God is love (1 John 4:8). If you are a Christian, his love dwells in your heart. All then have a common capacity to love. Said another way, any Christian can love.

The ability to love others is not based on talents given at the moment of conception. Rather, it’s something any child of God can do. The number of people you are able to love is not limited to how many talents you have.

It’s available to anyone with the will and desire to love.

In your workplace, choose to love. Look around you. Empathize with others’ feelings. Avoid envy. Offer an encouraging word. Curb criticism. Pray for those around you. Be patient and kind when hurt. Refuse rudeness. Say, “I may be wrong.” Give a helping hand to complete a project.

You will be judged one day for how well you used the talents God has given you (Matthew 25:14-30).

You will also be judged by God for how well you have loved those in your world (1 John 4:12).

That’s because any child of God can love.
