When You Choose Not to Decide, You Just Decided
SEPTEMBER 13
For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” 2 Corinthians 6:2
When I preach, I preach to bring people to a decision. Some say, “I won’t decide today.” Oh, yes, you will—you will decide about Jesus Christ.
You might say “I'm not gonna decide.” You just decided.
I was witnessing to a young lady one day. I asked her if she would receive Christ. She said, “No. I can't do it today.”
I said, “Don't you realize that if you don't receive Him, you're denying Him?”
“Oh,” she said, “I wouldn't deny Him for anything.”
“Well, Jesus said, ‘He that is not with Me is against Me.’ Either you crown Him or crucify Him, you accept or reject Him. There's no middle ground.”
She said, “I'm just not going to do anything.”
I said, “All right. Before I go, will you shake hands with me?”
“Well, certainly.”
“Good. If you'll take Christ as your personal savior, and Heaven and all that goes with it, take my right hand. If you refuse Christ and take Hell and all that goes with it, take my left hand.”
“Oh then—I won't. I don't want to shake hands with you.”
“But you said you'd shake hands.” I wanted that young lady to see there's no neutral ground.
Maybe you or someone you know thinks they aren’t deciding—they’re just delaying their decision. Help them see that when you choose not to decide, you just made a decision. Joshua challenged God’s people: “Choose you this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15). What is your decision?
