July 7, 2023 – The Key to Revelation
Sermon: 1991 – A Panorama of Prophecy
Pray Over This
“Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.”
Ponder This
I called the Book of Revelation the golden clasp that puts the whole sixty-six volumes of the Bible together. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had a key that would unlock that golden clasp? We do. If you understand this one verse, you’ll have the key that will unlock the whole book. The Apostle John, who wrote the Book of Revelation, was given a commission to write this book. This is the commission: “Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.” That’s God’s outline of the Book of Revelation. A lot of times, people come to God’s Word and artificially divide it up into different sections, categories, and divisions. But if you find God’s outline, the picture will come together very clearly.
- What does this verse tell you about the purpose of the Book of Revelation?
- How do John’s words help you better understand the rest of the book?
Practice This
Read at least one full chapter of Revelation today (more if you are able), keeping God’s purpose statement in mind as you do.
