April 10, 2023 – Are You Leaving a Spiritual Legacy?
Sermon: 1760 Trophies of Grace, Part 1
Pray Over This
“To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.”
Ponder This
A Christian who doesn’t share the Gospel of Christ is like a bus driver who won’t drive a bus or a barber who won’t cut hair. Jesus said, “You shall be witnesses to Me” (Acts 1:8). The question is, do you have any spiritual children? Is there anyone you have passed your legacy of faith on to? Not only was Paul a spiritual father, but he was a grandfather because now Titus was winning others to Christ. Spiritual impact can be passed on to many generations.
On April 1, 1885, there was a man named Kimball who went into a shoe store where there was a shoe clerk he had a burden for. The shoe clerk’s name was Dwight. Mr. Kimball went in, and he stuttered and stammered, but he told Dwight about Christ. There in the shoe racks, this young 19-year-old clerk bowed his head and gave his heart to Jesus and became Mr. Kimball’s spiritual son. That young man gained a heart to share Jesus. He lived in Chicago and began to gather boys and girls for Sunday school to tell them about Christ. His name was Dwight L. Moody. This uneducated shoe clerk began to preach and hold great crusades; thousands came to know Christ through his ministry. What about you? Who is your spiritual parent, and who are your spiritual children?
- Who has influenced you in your faith?
- Who have you been pouring into as you walk with Jesus? Who do you need to begin to do this with?
Practice This
Write a note of gratitude to specific people who have been influential in your walk with Jesus.
