An All-Access Pass

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (Romans 5:1 nlt)

A 2018 study on teens’ use of social media found that less than a third of teens today prefer in-person conversation. Rather, they prefer to text or use some other digital means to communicate.

When you’re friends with someone, you’re constantly talking to them. Maybe you talk on the phone or in person or through texts, but it’s an ongoing conversation that continues through the day. And then you pick it up again the next day.

Really, that’s what friendship is. Friends communicate with each other. Friends like to spend time with each other. In the same way, God wants you to communicate with Him. He’s always there, ready to listen and ready to speak to you.

How did this amazing friendship with God come about? We have friendship with God because Jesus made it possible. There’s nothing we can do (or have done) to merit it. We have this friendship with God because Jesus made it possible.

Romans 5:1 tells us, “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (nlt).

This friendship with God brings us personal peace. On the first Christmas, the angel said, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased” (Luke 2:14 nlt). Peace with God takes care of our past. He no longer holds our sins against us.

What’s more, we have access to God. We can come to Him at any time. Verse 2 of Romans 5 says, “Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand” (nlt).

Because Jesus came to this earth, because of what He has done for us, we have an all-access pass into the presence of God.
