Week of April 13, 2015

Theme: Resurrection

We All Fall Short

Play: Set up a challenge course that includes walking along a 10-foot string in a perfectly straight line with eyes closed, saying the alphabet backward within 15 seconds, drawing a perfect circle freehand and bouncing a tennis ball off your knees 20 times in a row without it hitting the floor.

Let everyone know that rewards will be given to those who successfully finish the course within three minutes. Whoever fails any part of the course must completely start over. After everyone has tried for three minutes, announce that all participants will still receive rewards even though they didn't finish the course perfectly.

Talk: This challenge course is much like life. No one will ever get through it without messing up at some point. One meaning of sin is “to miss the mark.” In some way, we all miss the mark every day. But Romans 5:8 tells us that “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” On our own, we’ll never be perfect enough for a sinless God. But because Jesus is perfect, He makes us worthy to receive the reward of God’s salvation.

Pray: Ask God to show you what He wants you to learn from the real stories in the Bible.
