Stop Hiding
 By Jamy Whitaker

And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?  Esther 4:14b

There are several characters within the Bible that I am drawn to: Abraham for his faith to follow God’s command without needing explanation; Peter for his courage to step out of the boat and David for his willingness to go into a battle where the odds were stacked against him. However, Esther is the one I can relate to and has had such an impact on my life.

No, I am not a beautiful young lady who won the position of queen in a beauty pageant. However, I have been chosen and so have you. God chose us before we were even born. Never forget that. During the days when nothing seems to be going right and everyone seems to be against you, know that you are chosen and loved by the King.

I found it interesting that the name Esther means hidden. If you are familiar with her story, you know that she kept the fact that she was a Jew a secret – hidden. Esther is not the only one that hides. Many of us spend a large portion of our lives hiding behind one mask or another. Trying to hide who we truly are, in order to present this false image of who we are in order to please others.

You and I must learn from Esther and stop hiding. We need to accept what Christ says about us and let our true identity shine through. It is not easy, but God promises to never leave us. Just like He didn’t leave Esther when she faced the king. She had the courage to step out in faith armed with her trust in God. You and I need to do the same thing and step out, leaving fear and insecurity behind to follow God’s leading.

You and I have been places on this earth at this specific time for a reason. Are you going to choose today to follow after the purpose God has placed on your life? What steps do you need to take this week to begin to fulfill your destiny?

Dear heavenly Father, I come to You today thanking You for choosing me. So often I forget that no matter what anyone else says or does, You have chosen me and You love me. Armed with that knowledge I ask that You help me to walk boldly after You. I pray that I no longer let fears, insecurities or doubts rule my life. I long to fulfill what You are asking me to do. Give me the wisdom and strength to follow hard after You. In Your Precious Name, Amen.
