How you can receive incomparable riches

June 24

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. - 2 Corinthians 9:6

During his reign, King Frederick William III of Prussia found himself in quite a pinch. Wars and nation building had left his kingdom seriously strapped for cash. He didn’t want to make his people suffer. So he decided to ask the women of Prussia to bring their jewelry to be melted down for their country.

To show his gratefulness, the King gave each woman who brought her jewelry an iron amulet inscribed with the words, “I gave gold for iron.” This generated an overwhelming response from the nation’s women, even making it unfashionable to wear jewelry. Instead, women across Prussia began a new fashion trend: an iron cross worn for all to see!

This is what the Christian life is all about: trading in all the world holds dear for the sake of our King and His Kingdom. Every worldly possession we own, every skill we have, and even every moment of our lives are given to Him!

In Christ, there are riches beyond compare. So don’t settle for worldly wealth when He wants to give you so much more. Entrust everything you are and have to God, giving it to Him first for the advancement of His Kingdom around the world!

Prayer Challenge

Pray now and ask God to help you surrender all you are and all you have to Him for the sake of His Kingdom.

Questions for Thought

When we surrender all we are and have to God, how does that strengthen our relationship with Him?

How might your life look differently if you treated everything you have- even your own self – as if it were God’s?
