Daily Light on the Daily Path - January 25

January 25
MORNING

The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.—Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.—Whom God made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.—Not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.

Rom. 3:22; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:13; 1 Cor. 1:30; Titus 3:5, 6; Phil. 3:8, 9

EVENING

But you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Jesus . . . lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, . . . Holy Father, . . . O righteous Father.—And he said, “Abba, Father.”—And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”—For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

For you are our Father . . . you, O Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name.

“I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.’” And he arose and came to his father.

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
