God Is the Only Source for Your Finances
By Rick Warren
“Yes, God made all things, and everything continues through him and for him. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” Romans 11:36 (NCV)
The Bible teaches that God is the source of our finances. He is the one who provides for our needs.
What does this mean? It means that instead of looking to your employer or your savings account for financial security, look to God. Don’t look to anyone or anything other than God to provide for your needs.
Let me illustrate it this way: When you turn on the water, the water doesn’t actually come from the faucet. It comes through the faucet. The water actually comes from a reservoir or a well, and the way you happen to receive it is through the faucet.
In the same way, the income that God wants to give you may come through a job or through something or someone else.
But the source is always God.
Romans 11:36 says, “Yes, God made all things, and everything continues through him and for him. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” (NCV)
You don’t need to worry about which faucet God uses to supply your needs. God can turn off one faucet, just as easily as he can turn on another. If you lose one job, God can give you another. Your job or bank account isn’t your source. God alone is your source.
It’s not your responsibility to figure out how God’s going to provide. Your responsibility is to ask.
The Bible says in James 4:2, “You do not have because you do not ask God” (NIV).
God wants you to worry less and ask more. Worry less and ask more. Instead of worrying, pray about everything.
Worry is a warning light. It reveals the places where you aren’t trusting God. When you start to worry, stop yourself and start talking to God instead. Ask him to reveal to why you may not be trusting him and ask him for help to trust him more.
If God has already solved your biggest problem, everything else is small by comparison. If God loved you enough to send Jesus to die for your sins, don’t you think he loves you enough to help you with your finances?
There’s no area of your life that God is not interested in. He already knows what you need, but he still wants you to ask him for it. Instead of worrying, pray about everything.
Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (NIV). Trust God as your source and supply. True blessing comes from trusting him fully.
